Your roots tell a story.

What are your roots?

Our story

Welcome to Roots Ranch! A place we have called home since 2013. After previously living on a zero-lot line property, we moved into a ranch home on 5 acres and have been growing our family farm ever since.

Throughout renovating our home and raising 4 kids, our dreams have changed over time. Back in 2007, we started a photography business (Roots Photography & Design) after our 6-month-old nephew died of SIDS. We realized that we didn’t have very many pictures of him and thus our photography business began. Our goal was to capture the roots of people – who they were, and where they came from. Tater in overalls with no undershirt sitting on a full intact bull for his senior pictures would be a good example of this. His roots were definitely on the farm!

Fast forward to now – our kids are older and want to be involved. I (Haley) still want to be creative. However, throughout the past few years, I have realized I do not want to spend hours sitting in front of a computer screen editing pictures. This led to us closing our photography business and focusing more on growing on our land and enjoying our animals and each other. We may at some point still offer mini sessions, because how cool would it be to photograph you in front of a large patch of sunflowers?

We all play a little part on this farm. Tater is the main provider and handyman here at Roots Ranch. He is a Nurse Practioner by day and a family man working on the farm and doing all sorts of projects at night. He has an interest in leatherwork and dreams about making his first saddle someday!

Landon is our oldest and has taken an interest in Veterinary Medicine. We are excited to see how God leads Him with his future. In the meantime, he enjoys creating beautiful leatherwork goods that you will see in the shop!

Elle loves gardening and growing produce. The massive produce garden is all her! It is something she takes pride in and wants to do on her own. I tried watering her tomatoes once and got in trouble. Wanting to come alongside her in some sort of way, I planted my first flower seeds in our basement along side her. I fell in love with it. My first flower growing experience was the summer of ‘22. I watched the tiniest little seed develop into something so beautiful! I tried to decide at the end of that season if I wanted to continue. I realized that this dream of mine would be an investment, and it was a lot of work! I was struggling with knowing if I should spend money on seeds, grow lights, soil, equipment, etc. when we had so many other expenses on the farm. I needed answers. I was at a crossroads, and I prayed that God would give me peace and direction in knowing what to do. One day, I prayed that God would send a rainbow in the sky if I were to pursue this dream. Within less than 10 minutes, a rainbow appeared in the sky! It was just what I needed. I ended up buying a whole bunch of books and investing in an online flower school. I’m not sure where this journey will end up leading, but here we go! I’m a flower farmer!!

Briana is our caregiver and loves animals. She is such a great helper with anything we need, and she plans to create many items for the gift shop: jewelry, phone charms, stickers, and more!

Paisley has enough energy for us all! I wish she would give me some! She helps us on the tasks that we need a little extra energy for. Paisley and Elle love horses and hope to train them someday. I’m sure you will see them out riding on our Farm Days! She also makes the leather band bracelets!

Thank you for being here! We look forward to getting to know you better!
